Despite the name the Aqua Forte Garden Sniper Bird Scarer does not shoot the birds out of the sky, instead it has a PIR motion sensor which will detect the movement of birds, cats, dogs and even rabbits. Once it detects movement it opens a valve and water shoots through the sprinkler head creating noise and movement to scare the unwanted visitor away. You need to have a permanent mains water hose connection to the base of the unit and the as the unit is solar powered, it does rely on sufficient sunlight to be effective and should be placed in direct sunlight. As it needs a hose connection and solar power this is for use during the summer months. The biggest pest this scarer is used for is Herons closely followed up by Cats. Herons prefer to land near the pond and walk in so you should set the scarer up so that the PIR covers the landing area rather than the pond. With cats you may wish to direct the sensor over the pond area. The PIR can detect creatures up to 10m away and it can be adjusted to work day and / or night.
