Our 250gm/m² Black Pond Liner Underlay is a top quality densely woven fibre which is root resistant and puncture resistant. This high density material has a weight of 250 g/m². The 250 g/m² pond liner underlay is so strong and dense that we even have problems cutting it in house and as such, we are happy to recommend this underlay as a very effective protection for your liner. It is cut off a roll 2m (6ft 6 inch) wide.
As an alternative to our standard underlay, this black coloured version is more discreet if not fully covered, so it is particularly useful when being used above liners but under stonework as a protective layer.
When Should I Use Black Pond Liner Underlay/Overlay?
Black 250 g/m² pond liner underlay/overlay can be used beneath the pond liner in the same way as standard underlay, helping to protect the liner from stones, roots, rough ground and other puncture risks below the pond.
Its main advantage is that it is more discreet where the material may not be fully covered. This makes it particularly useful above the pond liner, underneath rocks, slabs, edging stones, waterfalls, streams or decorative stonework where the liner surface may need extra protection from rubbing or pressure points.
Use black underlay / overlay when you want both practical liner protection and a neater appearance in areas where standard light-coloured underlay could be more visible.
What is the difference between standard underlay and black underlay / overlay?
Both products help protect the pond liner from puncture risks, but they are normally used slightly differently. Standard underlay is mainly used beneath the pond liner, between the ground and the liner.
Black underlay/overlay can also be used beneath the liner, but it is especially useful above the liner where rocks, edging stones or decorative stonework may sit against the liner surface. The black colour makes it more discreet if any of the material remains partly visible.
