The Masterplug Heavy Duty 13A plug has a impact resistant body and solid brass sleeved pins which can easily withstand the few knocks which can occur with outdoor products and should fit in most outdoor three pin plug sockets. Completely rewireable, the plug is manufactured to BS1363-2 and has a 13 amp fuse. Supplied with a 1-year guarantee.
Why do I need a plug?
When the regulations came into effect requiring all electrical products to be fitted with plugs, pond equipment was given an exception. Within the UK pond filtration market, it is recommended that all products that are permanently connected to the mains power supply are "hard wired" into a suitable weatherproof switchbox, this is why all pond products are supplied without fitted plugs.
In certain situations you may choose to us a suitable weatherproof connection box which is designed to be used with standard 3 pin plugs, if this is the case the Masterplug Heavy Duty 13A plug would be a good option.
Please remember that outdoor electrical work should only be done by a "competent person" and if you are in any doubt you should always consult a qualified electrician.
