This 10 Litres bag of Velda Peat Free Pond Soil is a specialist planting medium designed for use with aquatic plants, water lilies and marginal pond plants. It provides a stable, low-organic substrate that supports healthy root development while helping maintain water clarity.

The composition is designed to support strong root development and stable plant growth without encouraging excessive nutrient release into the pond. This helps maintain biological balance while providing a suitable medium for aquatic planting.

The peat-free formulation also provides a more sustainable option for pond planting. By avoiding peat, this planting medium reduces environmental impact associated with peat extraction while still providing suitable conditions for aquatic plants.

For water lilies and most marginal plants, a layer of at least 15cm of pond soil is recommended. To help prevent water cloudiness, the surface of the soil can be covered with washed gravel or a fine-grained substrate. When using planting baskets, an inlay cloth can be used to reduce soil washout.
