Pond Zeolite is a natural stone which binds nitrates and phosphates in pond water and is a very effective filter medium to keep the pond water healthy and algae free. Supplied with net bag it should ideally be placed in a filter or a location where water will flow round or through the bag. Although not specifically stated on the packaging, Pond Zeolite can also be used to help control Ammonia and Nitrite problems and is useful to keep for water quality emergencies.Pond Zeolite should be removed for a safe period when any pond treatment is undertaken, the timescale will depend on the treatment and particular care should be used when adding salt to a pond where Zeolite is being used, as the salt can cause it to release its bound compounds.
Although it is possible to "recharge" Zeolite, we recommend regularly changing the Zeolite through a season to help keep the pond water in optimal condition.
