If you don't have an even planting ledge or don't like seeing planting baskets then these could provide a solution. The planting socks as the name suggests are flexible rot resistant geotextile material socks, which can be filled with aquatic soil and sealed. Plants can then be located in the soil via the opening along the top. The design leads to less soil spills, lays well over uneven surfaces and will contain the roots.

20-Nov-2024	Velda - Small Pond Planter Socks	A good idea in principle. The opening flat and pop-studs do not work very well. There is too much overlap on the flap which pinches and twists the stems of plants. The pop-studs quickly get aquatic soil in them making them difficult to close. It would be better to have the two sides meet in the middle facing each other with an alternative fixer like strips of Velcro. See phot attached for what I mean about the flap meeting with sides facing each other.

10-Jun-2023	Small Pond Planter Socks	I haven’t tried using it yet so it’s hard to comment but I was disappointed that it was made from a synthetic material rather than hessian.
14-Feb-2018	Small Pond Planter Socks Customer also bought: .... : Square Pond Planting Bags - 18cm x 18cm x 18cm (was UBA042) Square Pond Planting Bags - 25cm x 25cm x 20cm (was UBA043)	Although they are made from very strong material, they are not as to plant up as I thought. They have press studs to form 4 planting 'holes' but it's a fine line between getting enough compost and the plant or not enough compost and still be able to close the studs. In fact,one of the socks I was unable to get two of the studs closed, so gave up on then. Also be aware that unless you have easy access to the pond and the ledge you want to put them on, they are not the easiest things to handle once planted. Especially if you are doing it by yourself!

19-Sep-2016	Small Pond Planter Socks	Good idea, but would benefit from a slight modification to allow you to close the planter sock more easily without damaging the plants. Flexible design allows you to shape the sock to fit irregular planting shelves.
