The product its self is well made and looks good. Our issue was we put in pond dirt, then the plant, a small amount of gravel to hold the dirt in place, carefully we lowered it on to the water. It floated for seconds then started to sink. Thankfully we had line attached and could hold onto the floating island. We took everything out then started again. This time we put polystyrene in the bottom, then dirt, then the plant and gravel. Fortunately this time it did float. We had bought two islands so filled the second one with polystyrene at the bottom and it floated. I would buy again but will always use polystyrene to make sure it doesn’t sink.

I bought the floating island to replace one in our pond as the plant had become to big. We put pond dirt in the new island and the pond plant. We added a small amount of gravel to hold the dirt in place. We attached a wire to be able to anchor it to the side of the pond. We placed the island carefully in the water and after a few seconds it sank. Thankfully we still had hold of it. We emptied the island and added polystyrene, then dirt then the plant and gravel. This time it did float. We have tried this technique again and it floats and look nice. Have no idea how it can float with pond dirt filling most of the pouch underneath the collar. Nice product , just take care when putting the island in your pond.

They are indeed floating plant pots, rather like Mexican hats upside down. Once the planting has matured I think they will make a good island. They are well made and can be linked to form an interesting shape. They did make us laugh though, and I wonder why they cannot be given more naturalistic shapes and colour to speed up the process.
