Oase BioSmart 18000 Pond Filters use a combination of structured foams of fine and coarse grades to produce a high level of mechanical filtration Bio Media to provide the biological filtration. Outlet from the tank is approximately half way up the tank enabling partial burying to help conceal your filter equipment. The unique design of the Oase BioSmart 18000 Pond Filters and Bitron (UV) range means the Bitron attaches on the side of the tank, not on the lid like many other systems, allowing the whole package to be hidden more effectively.

The filter consists of foam cartridges suspended from a plate. To clean them simply pull the handles which compress the foam against the plate, squeezing out the waste. This waste and the remaining water is then run to waste via the integrated sludge outlet, which in the 18000 is controlled through an internal valve lever. The filter outlet is half way up the tank allowing partial burial if required, although the sludge drain is at the bottom of the tank and must be accessible for cleaning. The 18000 filters are supplied with a integrated thermometer. In addition the BioSmart 18000 pond filters are supplied with an integrated pollutant level indicator, which signals the right time for cleaning and a 3rd type of foam which is ultra fine. What is Effective Volume ?
The effective volume is the quantity of water in your pond, plus an allowance for shallow and or ponds exposed to high levels of sunlight. Both of these situations will result in a higher than normal algae growth, and fish pollution. We advise that to ensure your that your equipment is correctly sized, the effective volume be considered the minimum size for the equipment you select. However do remember to check the details of the product you are interested in, to ensure that there are no other allowances or consideration specific to that product are required.
