Velda Activated Filter Carbon is a special filter medium which is used to purify water. Activated carbon is excellent at removing a variety of organic compounds including fine dirt, aromatic substances and colourings. It is made from super activated carbon and compressed into small rods. In this way the material permits a very good flow rate and provides crystal clear water. Velda Activated Filter Carbon is suitable to filter pond water and can be used in any type of pond filter. Activated carbon is an excellent choice for your pond. Although it will not remove every possible contaminant on its own, activated carbon is an important component in a multi-stage filtration and purification system. Once activated carbon becomes full, it can no longer remove any more contaminants. Therefore, it is important to replace it regularly. A good rule of thumb is once per month, but if you notice changes in your pond’s odour or colour, it may be time to replace it.

Due to its ability to absorb some chemical compounds, it is recommended that Activated Carbon is removed from your pond when using fish treatment, to ensure that it does not reduce their effectiveness.
